Welcome by the Head of Campus
Welcome to the William Leech Campus page. Our Campus is situated in the village of Lynemouth, three miles north east of Ashington. Spread over two buildings, children attend our 2 year old and Nursery provision in the Early Years building before moving to the main Campus for Reception to Year 6.
We enjoy close links with our local childminders so families are able to access 30 hours of childcare. They also run a weekly toddler group in our Early Years building which young children in the community are welcome to attend.
We are proud of our close relationships with parents and carers. Family members are invited into our Campus every week to join in our celebration act of worship as well as special events throughout the academic year. Our parent group, Team William Leech, provides parents and carers with an opportunity to support the school more actively primarily through fundraising activities.
William Leech Campus is at the centre of Lynemouth and also serves the local travelling community. Children are encouraged to take a pride in their community through supporting local projects and charities and the Campus hosts community events such as Remembrance and the annual Christmas Carols by Candlelight.
Children can demonstrate their leadership in several areas of Campus life. William Leech has an active pupil council led by the Head Boy and Girl, House Captains, Light Ambassadors and Librarians. Year 5 and 6 children are also given the opportunity to be Head for the day.
Children’s University passports are available to all children on Campus and children are actively encouraged to participate in a range of activities to collect hours on their passport. A wide range of extra-curricular activities are available on Campus and there is also the opportunity to take part in special events led by staff from Children’s University.
Our aim is to create a stimulating, safe and happy environment where every child feels valued and inspired to learn. Every member of staff is dedicated to providing the children in our care with exciting opportunities which encourage their development and we encourage everybody to adopt the Academy LIGHT values of Love, Inclusivity, Goodness, Hope and Truth in the hope of inspiring them to become respectful, well-rounded citizens of the future.
Mrs Amy Thompson, Head of Campus.
