Welcome to the Bishop’s school section of the Academy website. We hope you find the information helpful and useful.
There are five Bishop’s school campuses within the Northumberland Church of England Academy, catering for children aged between 0 and 11. Three campuses serve the community of Ashington: Thomas Bewick, James Knott and Josephine Butler. Newbiggin by-the-Sea is served by the Grace Darling Campus, and Lynemouth by the William Leech Campus. All the campuses provide a high quality of teaching and learning, tailored to meet the specific needs of our pupils.
At Bishop’s Primary School, we seek to support high achievement for all our pupils so that
each child can ‘shine brightly’. We are aspirational for all our children and endeavour to support them to be the very best that they can be. The Academy motto, “Let your Light Shine” is taken from St Matthew’s Gospel and encourages everyone to discover and use the gifts and talents that they all have been given. We take great pride in the success and achievements of our pupils.
The Bishop’s school curriculum is designed to engage pupils and inspire them to become creative and independent thinkers with a love of learning and a thirst for knowledge. We actively encourage pupils to get involved and contribute to the life of the Academy and to be active, respectful and caring members of the communities that they live in as well as thoughtful members of the global community.
We foster a positive partnership with parents and carers and work together to achieve success for our children. If you would like to know more about any of our campuses, please follow the link to the individual campus pages for the contact details.
