Welcome by Head of Campus.
I am delighted and proud to be able to introduce myself as the new Head of Grace Darling Junior Campus. Grace Darling Junior Campus is part of Bishop’s Primary School and the wider group of schools that form the Northumberland Church of England Academy Trust (NCEAT). We are co-located, on Central Parkway in Newbiggin, with Grace Darling Infant Campus and work together towards common goals to ensure that all children ‘let their light shine’.
In my first couple of weeks, I have been made to feel really welcome by all of the children and staff and I am very excited about working in partnership with the whole community. I’m thrilled to be given the opportunity to play a key role in shaping the education of our children and have already been speaking to the children about their vision for the Junior Campus.
With the children, we have focused on ‘The Starfish Thrower’s Story’ by Loren Eisley. This is the story of a boy who walks the beach, throwing starfish back in to the sea. When asked why he is doing this, as he cannot make a difference to them all, the boy replies that he has made a difference to that one. The message to the children is that small actions can have a big impact and we encourage them all to be ‘Starfish Throwers’.
The children are at the heart of every decision we make to ensure that they are happy, confident and that the opportunities that are provided for them are relevant to their needs, both now and in the future.
Through our engaging curriculum, we encourage a passion and curiosity for learning that will help children to develop high aspirations and provide a lifetime of memories. You can view our curriculum on this site and share this with the children at home.
Working in partnership with parents is crucial if we are to ensure all of our children feel safe, happy, valued and achieve their full potential. We firmly believe that education is a partnership between home and school and regard you as an active partner in your child’s education and value your interest and support. Working together as a team, I am sure that our children will strive to be the best that they can be.
